Book Review

Thoughts from a developmental editor - Toni Rocchetti reviews Book Review.

“Go now or you’ll never go.”

Evvie Drake Starts Over begins with her leaving her husband (not a spoiler, it’s in the summary). We don’t know why, in fact we don’t know much about that marriage for a little while. She’s an extremely likable character who describes feeling stuck in a relationship like being in a boat on a large bo of water and rowing and rowing and not getting anywhere but being too far to turn around so you keep trekking along hoping to find the other side. Instead of finding the other side though, she gets a phone call saying her husband was in a car accident (also not a spoiler) and has died – on the same day she was leaving him!

The plot goes from there. You follow her navigate life after losing a husband she fell out of love with a long time ago. The setting was also very fun as I’ve spent a lot of time up in Maine. The love story is super sweet and fun to read. I do wish the emotions were discussed a little more but they are touched upon and it made a seemingly light read a little deeper. H

Highly recommend as your last summer feeling read! Thank you to MaryBeth @my for letting me borrow this one! And thank you to those who recommended this one to me – I can see why you thought I would enjoy it.
